Finding a good roommate – not a good, the perfect one – it’s a huge challenge. Once you say ‘yes’ to someone, they immediately start to make things that make you regret your choice or they turn out to be total weirdos. So, what are the that isn’t crazy or a bit pushy? Read the next lines!
First, you need to know your limits. Be honest with yourself about what you can really endure and what are the qualities you’re looking for in a roommate. Create a list that will guide you through the interviews. It’s also important to ask for recommendations.
Then, before you choose a roommate (on Craigslist, for instance), meet him face to face at a neutral and public location to check how he or she acts in public. You can even bring a friend to get a second opinion.
After you have chosen the “one”, make him sign a roommate agreement before you sign the lease. This document must cover everything from the shared rent to the cleaning responsibilities.
Follows these simple rules and you’ll see that finding a great roommate is possible and not that big of a deal. Happy house sharing!
