Can you imagine having clothing and furniture inspired in Downton Abbey? They are arriving this year
Finally, our homes can be a little bit more like Downton Abbey. We hope you don’t have to change your outfit three times a day for each meal, but, soon, you’ll be able to have clothing, homeware and furniture inspired in the British TV series.
The show’s executive producer, Gareth Neame, has announced that NBC Universal, which is now the owner of the show’s production company, called Carnival Films, will be launching this year several Downton-related products for your home. “We’ll be working across an entire range of products coming out this year. From fashion, apparel and homeware and furniture to wallpapers, beauty products and stationary”, said Gareth Neame.
It took a while, as NBC is moving cautiously with this business, but now it’s clear that it was officially a three stage plan. “In retail terms, the first series launched the program and the brand, the second year ratified it and the show didn’t even hit its high point in the USA until this year when series three ended in the USA”, the executive producer explained. “It’s very rare for a British drama to have this much retail potential and merchandising value”, Neame added.
NBC Universal still hasn’t specified what kind of home goods and furniture will be available. Is it too soon to start dreaming with some tea cups worth of the Dowager Countess, a dressing table or a canopy bed?
